WHO IS RUNNING YOUR LIFE?

“You can’t control the world

But when you control your

Thoughts, you bring order.”

How many of us can say that I am the master of my life? There are times when we need to listen to our inner voice, but there are times when we should be guided by a higher intelligence. This holds good for children and adults.

I have seen how the non-performance of a person in an organization can sometimes be attributed to the negative influence their colleagues have on them. There are a few people in every organization, who will not align themselves with the culture of the organization, and will also stop others from performing.

We need to develop a growth mindset

We should not allow anyone to deter us from our growth. Pull yourself out of the negative environment. If we allow someone to pollute our mind, we are doomed. Smartness need not be in acquiring knowledge alone, but in recognizing those who are trying to pull you down in life as well. Be smart, be vigilant, we aware, beware!

Values, principles and standpoints in life will help us to take the right decision.

Else we will be vacillating in life, and will not have an opinion of our own. Always weigh the pros and cons of taking a decision, of listening to the advice of others. This will help in making life simple. Climbing the ladder in our profession will happen only if our contribution to the organization is convincing.

Why should we lose out on our growth when we have the potential to make it big?  Come out of gossip gangs, do not be a part of the bullies, instead use your time and ability to build your career by updating your knowledge and skill. You will be stunned to know who you can become.

This goes for young boys and girls as well. Not realizing the wrong company in which they get into, they unfortunately get involved in a lot of unwanted activities, thus ruining their own life. They get into wrong habits and reach a stage where they cannot come out of it. They befriend the wrong gang and mess up their life.

It is foolish to allow any negative factor to enter your mind and contaminate it. Your life is your responsibility. Choose your friends wisely. Blame game will not change the setbacks in your life. Taking ownership will.

The greatest tragedy of life is not the ultimate death, but your potential dying within you when you are still alive.

Don’t let anyone in the world make decisions for you. It is dangerous if somebody else is running your life. Take the reins of your life in your hands and press the speed button.

BECOME A NUMERO UNO

It is that time of the year when the Annual Surveillance happens. All the process owners are busy putting together all the necessary documents. We see this as the time to learn, to share and to enhance our standards. Hence, we look forward to the surveillance, as the Assessors share their thought process with us for continual improvement.

We know how much we have grown in terms of quality since we were first accredited. Now, it is about eight years since we have been accredited, and there is a quantum leap in the quality of our work.

Was it easy to achieve quality standards? My answer would be an emphatic “No.” The entire staff had to be trained to a new way of thinking. We had to be on the same page and speak the same language. There had to be synergy in the team.  A high level of coordination and communication amongst the process owners was required. We had to learn as well as unlearn. It had to become a new culture in the organization. But we were able to achieve it. It was a breakthrough!

We received accolades for our team’s work and the high level of competency each one displayed. In fact, we surpassed the expectations of the Assessors!

It was our willingness to let go of our old ways and embrace the new system that helped us feel proud of ourselves and where we have arrived.

Achieving continual improvement in other aspects of life made me reflect on the habits that we pick up, knowingly or unknowingly. Our habits either take us to the pinnacle of glory, or to a point of no return. From being a prisoner of certain habits, if we can turn around our life, it will be a very great breakthrough.

So also, a teacher who goes to class to deliver the syllabus and a teacher who goes the extra mile to make a difference to the students, like how Dr Kalam inspired his students and won the respect and admiration of one and all, if continual improvement is what we aspire for, we will willingly go through uncomfortable transition.

To shift from a person whose very nature is to always ask God, “Why me for all the troubles?” and to become someone who, in spite of challenges, will only think about the blessings in life and offer gratitude to the Almighty, is a very big shift in attitude. And we will soon realize that this shift in our thinking will only ensure recurrence of instances in our life for which we can be grateful.

As a student you may desire to achieve so many things, but everything first begins with a shift in your thinking. What should I give up to go up in life?

In life, shifting from where we are now, to a place of pride, where you can look up to yourself, calls for enormous effort

1.Are we willing to transform?

2. Are we ready to go through uncomfortable transition?

3. Are we willing to sustain when the going is tough?

4. Are we ready to embrace the change?

5. Are we keen on gifting ourselves a new life?

If you score at least four stars in all of the above, be assured that your journey has begun, to qualify yourself to be a Numero Uno in whatever you choose to become.

SELF-LOVE AND SELF-CARE

A school has many celebrations, and one that I really enjoy is the Annual Sports Meet. The extravaganza and the visual treat of sight and sound it offers, is always cherished. Year after year the team comes up with a different variety of events. The entire program was breathtaking. The students displayed their skills and concluded with great aplomb. The applause was thunderous. The guests were highly impressed with the confidence with which the students performed.

In the track events that were conducted, the girls were not running briskly. They seemed to lack energy. So also, some of the boys lacked stamina. A couple of them almost fainted when the marching contingent assembled for the lighting of the torch and the athletes’ oath.

We may not play games all our life, especially after school or college. But fitness is for life.

Health has become a huge concern now. Are we teaching our children self-care when they are young? What we don’t teach in their early years will be resisted by them as an adult. It is easier to learn, than to unlearn. Self-care is all about consciously taking care of your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The food they eat contribute to their health. So, giving them healthy food and not tongue conscious food will greatly benefit them.

                       Today’s food is tomorrow’s health.

I am talking as a mother now. I have experimented this with my child. Less sugar, no snacks in between meals, lots of veggies and non-vegetarian food. No exaggeration, even today, this is his eating style. No snacks, less sugar or no sugar, no fizzy drinks, only healthy food. One addition is, daily exercise, apart from eating the right food.

Movement is an important aspect of our life. Children are dropped in school and picked up every day. At home they sit and study, or watch television or play with gadgets. They hardly walk, except in school. So, they are unable to stand for long. If the assembly exceeds twenty minutes, some of them faint.

They should be involved in a sport. Only then they will learn to take care of their body. Their love for their body will help them to keep away from vices.

It is appalling to know that young school students are stressed, they suffer from anxiety and other disorders. Emotional and mental health is crucial to their well-being. Learning yoga, practicing meditation, connecting with nature, involving in activities that bring in a sense of purpose, will certainly contribute to their spiritual well-being.

Self-love will also lead to self-care. Talking to our children with love, appreciating them, highlighting their positive qualities and actions, will help them to be emotionally strong individuals. It will boost their self-image and self-confidence.

Children should learn to love themselves. They should not be defining themselves by their looks or achievements, rather develop beautiful qualities that will help them to feel good about themselves.

What better way to learn self-love than to observe and absorb from their parents. We can role model ourselves, and the way we take care of our body, balance our emotions and work on our spiritual ascendance, will be the right way to inculcate it in our children.

Valentine’s Day can be the day that we celebrate self-love. Only if we love ourselves can we love the world. Look into the mirror today and tell yourself, ‘’Love you so much!”❤❤❤

SPREADING GOODNESS

The wake-up call rang at 4.30 am. I immediately woke up, and the first thing I do on a daily basis is, send the wisdom of infinitheism to around 900 people. This has been a daily practice. I start my day thus. I always feel that something good has to go from you to the world. Fortunately, I can share the wisdom of my spiritual guru with the world and it can in turn help them to improve the quality of their life.

Even in our school we ask children to write something good about someone every day. If they consistently write every day for a month, they will receive the Good Finders Badge. Initially children may do it for the sake of the badge, but slowly it will become a habit to see goodness in others and not find fault.

Whenever it is a student’s birthday, five students are asked to speak something good about that child. The birthday child feels so special and happy. The school provides a positive environment for the children.

When children come back from school, for a change, ask your child “How was the day?” or “Whom did you help?” or “Did you make someone happy?” You will be instilling these positive thoughts in the child, instead of always asking, “What is the homework?” or” What did the teacher teach today?” That can be addressed later.

Growing up years are very crucial. Those are the years that define the man or the woman they turn out to be.

I am shocked by the amount of negativity that I get to see. Somebody posts some negative comment about a person or an organization, immediately many join in with their comments. Most of the time it is all baseless and unverified. It not only takes away our peace, but creates negative vibes.

If we get our environment right, we can get our mind right. “Sangam saranam gachhami.”  Let us be mindful of the company that we keep. Avoid the ones who are cantankerous. They will never allow us to think positively. Move away from people in whose company you tend to gossip, backbite, complain or rant.  Not only is it a waste of time, it does not bring any good into our life.

Who is your fall back? Is it Sakuni or Krishna? Our friends have a great impact on our thinking.

We need peace and harmony in life. It is priceless. Don’t trade it for anything in the world. Those who are frustrated will make sure that they leave others frustrated as well. If you sense it early, it will do a lot of good to you.

Anything that we wish to convey, be it a feedback or a concern, let us make it in a constructive manner. There has to be grace and poise in everything that we do. Else it is a disgrace. Politeness and courtesy in manners and speech is a basic requisite for an educated person.

How beautiful it would be to fill the space we step into, with our positive vibes and aura. How can that happen? By constantly entertaining positive thoughts. It is so easy to get sucked into the influence of others. It needs a lot of will power to stay away from the clutches of those who derive pleasure in maligning people.

Anything that we give to the world should bring happiness and not make people shrink. Can the world rejoice in our presence?

I always come out of meditation releasing this thought, “Thank you God for helping me to do all the good I can, for all the people I can, in all the ways I can, at all the times I can.”  True to this thought, I get numerous opportunities to do good, time and again, in different ways. May we all spread the fragrance of our goodness and leave the world a better place than we found it.
