A TEACHER IS BORN

 

Unintended consequence it certainly was,

That made me work for a noble Cause.

Top of the world I really feel,

Thank you God for this lovely deal.

 

A Blessing in life certainly it is to me,

Nourishing & nurturing the adult-to-be.

Corrective & Preventive measures we take,

Nothing is done for namesake.

 

A Humongous responsibility it is,

Knowing that this is their genesis.

Connecting with all your heart,

That’s where as a teacher you start.

 

Grooming them to be elegant & smart,

Holding them in the echelon of your heart.

One day they will have to depart,

Just be happy that you played your part.

FATHER, A PRESENCE

 

A man I have hardly seen,

Around me has seldom been.

Craved for him all the while,

Grew up as destiny’s child.

Moments of void & despair,

Nothing could ever repair.

It was merely life’s game,

He just left when I came.

Unbearable was his loss,

Life went for a real toss.

Years of agony & pain,

Drove me really insane.

Angry with life I was,

Happiness & joy was in pause.

Grew up as a staunch rebel,

Many a tale I can tell.

 

No more sorrows or drops of tears,

This realization took many years,

Life is all about trick or treat,

Either way, learn to greet.

Accepting life in its entirety.

With my new found maturity,

Felt I very much his absence,

Today, my dad is a Presence!

 You came into my life,

Like a gentle breeze,

Soothing & calming,

Giving my life a new lease.

 

Every day is a joy

Every moment is a bliss

Coming to school

I will never miss!

 

Caring & loving

You made me

Total transformation

I came to see.

 

So selfless I’ve become,

So thoughtful & humane,

Changing my very nature

My limitations I’ve overcome.

 

My mind is full of you,

All other thoughts,

Away I just threw,

My heart beats only for you.

AGES & STAGES

 

You walked in with staggering gait

Unsure and with a lot of fear

With outstretched arms and tears

You leaned towards your mom

But soon from school she was gone!

 

Soon you were happy & cheerful

And had settled down with ease

Being comfortable and at peace

Your quiet mischief now began

Restlessly here & there you ran

 

Then you became a wild tween

Boxing, punching, pushing and pulling

Provoked at the slightest pretext

Pent up anger you wished to vent

Unable to handle your own self

 

Teenage you then helplessly reached

You hated when they all preached

Life was lived out of Pain & pleasure

Every moment you were under pressure

Wanting to live life your ways.

 

From a caterpillar to a butterfly

You just transformed your life

Years later, came back with a winning smile

Recognizing you took a while

Yes, my baby has grown in style!

DISCOVERING THE SELF

 

From where to where,

I am wondering,

The journey,

Has taken me.

The unknown paths,

The unexpected twists & turns,

The fall and the rise.

From a naïve, innocent, child,

To a stupid, irritable tween,

A conscious, inhibited teen,

An unsure, confused young adult,

At once wise & foolish,

Very sure of the unsure,

Loving & hating all at once,

In short, a PARADOX!!!

 

Life makes sure,

You experience it all,

To value all that is good,

And to learn,

From all that went wrong.

It is a game,

You need to play,

Without any choice,

And ultimately master.

Attitudes and outlooks change,

Over the years,

Amidst  smiles & tears.

Through purging of emotions,

All of a sudden comes,

A moment of self-discovery.

Happily realizing

You’re no more the same,

 Everything about you, 

Replaced with something positive.

But what emerges,

Out of all this,

Is a value we bring,

To a life that is well lived!!!
