(The education we provide in NSN goes far beyond the textbook, beyond academics and beyond the classroom)
How many of us value the freedom that we have gained from the British rule, after more than three hundred years of great struggle by our ancestors? We were born into free India and so, we do not know what it is to be stifled, or curtailed of one’s freedom to express, or to be dominated by a race.
To inculcate the feeling of patriotism in students, in NSN, we end the class by wishing students, “Jai Hind!” Independence Day is celebrated with pomp and splendor. Students deliver electrifying speeches, competitions are conducted, assembly presentations are made on freedom struggle, guest lectures are given about the unsung heroes of the freedom movement, to create a feeling of belongingness to the country.
The school also has the NCC, Air Wing and the Army. JRC, Scouts & Guides, and Cubs & Bulbuls Movement are part of the Co-curricular activity. Love for the country is imbibed in students through this Movement.
Swachh Bharat campaign is conducted every week. Students and teachers of one of the four houses, clean the school campus, on Fridays. This helps to create a sense of ownership in students and also trains them to keep their surroundings clean. The cleanliness of a nation begins with our immediate surroundings.
The Eco-friendly certificate is given to every class that is kept litter free throughout the month.
Responsible citizenship is about making responsible choices. Not to do anything that is easy and convenient, or anything that is pleasurable, but to do what is right.
“Where there is righteousness in the heart, there is beauty in character
Where
there is beauty in the character, there is harmony in the home.
Where
there is harmony in the home, there is order in the nation.
Where
there is order in the nation, there is peace in the world.” -Dr. APJ Abdul
Kalam.
Bringing up our children with the right value system and discipline is our contribution to the nation. Teaching them to be law-abiding citizens is responsible parenting.
There are many who are contributing to the nation-scientists, engineers, lawyers, policemen, and most importantly, teachers. Every professional goes through the hands of a teacher, even a teacher.
We may call teaching as the mother of all professions. Hence, the responsibility of moulding students into great citizens is shared by teachers, with the parents.
A teacher’s contribution to the nation is the highest. A teacher is here to serve. If a teacher can be a mom in school, she will do everything in the interest of the child and groom them to be an asset to the nation.
Like a mother, she will not wait for appreciation, and if her love for her students is as intense as a mother’s love, she will never need a reminder for what she needs to do. She will be the most inspiring teacher. To teach is to touch lives.
It is not necessary to be in the country’s defence to serve the nation. By being role model parents and teachers, influencing the young minds through the life that we live, we can contribute in a big way to the nation.
Each one of us should know that “True display of patriotism is living a life your country will be proud of” - mahatria
